Davenport Florida is a city located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The city is a part of the Lakeland-Winter Metropolitan Statistical Area. Darlene Bradley is the current mayor of the city.

 

History

 

Davenport was established in the year 1838 when during the Second World War US Military Second Seminole War. The fort was named after Colonel William Davenport; however, it only lasted for few years. The modern city of Davenport saw its beginning in the year 1880 when the South Florida Railroad was stretched to that point.

 

Economy

 

The area surrounding Davenport in the northeast Polk County was once the center of Circus World amusement park. Later in the year 1987, it was developed into Boardwalk and Baseball and had a small minor league baseball park that would have spring training and minor league baseball team, for Kansas City Royals. Because of this, the area was named as the “Baseball City”. However, the amusement park was taken down in 1990, and the Kansas City Royal moved to Arizona and the Cactus League in 2003. The name “Baseball City is now extinct, and the stadium area has now been restored into Posner Park and outdoor shopping mall.

Green Meadows Petting Farm is situated in Kissimmee, and it is around 8 miles northeast of Davenport. There you will be able to spend a day with farm animals and learn about their lives. The city of Davenport is quite popular for its adventurous golf courses. The Celebration Golf Club is the town of Celebration in a Disney-owned community. The Celebration Golf Club offers a golf community, adventurous 18-hole golf course, and a pro shop. The celebration coast is located at around 8 miles northeast of Davenport. You can spend a nice afternoon here with you friends and family enjoying golf.

 

 

 

 

Fun Spot USA is located in Kissimmee. The place features 4 unique US patented go-kart, around 18 families, and fun rides. It is also home to the tallest SkyCoaster in the world towering at the height of 300ft. The place also features a large arcade admission and parking is free here.

 

 

 

 

The Zamunda African Acrobats is a troupe all the way from East Africa. It shows captivating stunts including Chair hand balance, Human Pyramids, Limbo, Ring Jump, etc. they are quite popular in the city, and your children will absolutely love their show.
